As you may know, your Zen Garden can really produce a lot of money for you. Full grown Marigolds produce one or two gems for you. If you sell them they are worth $3,000. Plants that you win in games are also valuable. One trick to help you make money involves your Zen Garden and changing the time. This will fool the game into thinking it is time to produce more coins, gems etc. This is how it works…..

Water the plants in your Zen Garden until they don’t need anything else. After that, change the date on your PC to another day. As soon as you do, the plants will need water again. Repeat this — buy new plants, grow them to full size, sell and repeat to earn money.

This also works to get Marigolds in Crazy Dave’s shop when they are out of stock. You can fill up your Zen Garden and make all the money you need. You don’t even have to close out of the game.

Secrets and Cheats: The Slot Machine Money Maker

This cheat works in the Slot Machine Mini-Game. It may take a little time but it does work. This is how it is done…..

1) Set up your defenses around the slot machine. Try for one row of wallnuts on the right side, one or two rows of sunflowers on the left, and fill everything else with pea and snow pea shooters.

2) Protect the lawn mowers. Each are worth a Gold Coin at the end of the game, so don’t let them mow the zombies.

3) Stop collecting sun around 1900 sun points. At this point, the garden should be full, so getting the extra 100 points to win should be easy. Just collect enough sun to offset the slot machine.

4) Keep the slot machine spinning! It will randomly drop one or three gems as long the patience lasts.

5) If the Zombies get close to the mowers, end the game. Just collect the sun lying on the field to end the game.

Here are some entertaining little secrets to make the game more interesting. All you have to do on a particular level is type in the word. Some of them will not work until you progress with your Tree of Wisdom. Here they are……

future – Futuristic sunglasses for zombies
mustache – Zombies with mustaches
pinata – A shower of candy when a zombie dies
trickedout – Alternate Lawn Mower appearance
sukhbir – Toggles the zombie’s call for brains-sound
daisies – Zombies leave small daisies behind when killed

Secrets and Cheats: The secret of “Last Stand”

Money can be hard to come by in Plants vs. Zombies but there is one level that you can make some money. All you need are Lilly Pads, Tall Nuts, Pumpkins, Marigolds, Magnet Shrooms and Gold Magnets. There is no need to use any offensive weapons. Throughout the length of the pool plant your Lilly Pads first. After this plant a column of Tall Nuts on the right hand side and protect them with Pumpkins. After this plant two Magnet Shrooms (with Gold Magnets attatched) at two locations in the Lilly Pads. For the rest of the open spots plant Marigolds. As you may know, the Marigolds produce coins and the Gold Magnets will pick them up. It will take some time for the zombies to start breaking through your defense. Once they start coming through replace your lost Wall Nuts as best as you can. The zombies will make it through in just a few minutes but now after you’ve collected a few thousand coins. Not bad for a days work.

Mini-Games: ZomBotany

ZomBotany is one of the new levels that is available to you. This is a twist to the standard levels that you might be used to. The zombies all have heads with plants on them. The Pea-Shooter Zombie can do damage to your plants long before he reaches them. In addition the Wall Nut Zombies can withstand a lot of damage. This level should not be difficult but you want to be sure that you focus on defense first. Make sure your sunflowers are protected or you will lose them quickly. Depending at what point you start the mini-games, you will be able to use all sorts of plants to take on these zombies. It is an enjoyable mini-game and we’re certain you’ll have fun with it.

Mini-Games: Wall Nut Bowling

One of the new mini-games you unlocked recently, Wall Nut Bowling, is a good break from the standard adventure levels. At first it appears pretty simple but there are a few things that you can do to make it more interesting. You have two types of Wall nuts that you can use. There are regular Wall Nuts and exploding Wall Nuts. You should be able to pass the level with ease but you can make it interesting by trying to knock down multiple zombies with one nut. You can do this by hitting the forward zombie. The nut will ricochet from him to hit other zombies. If you do this right you can earn a lot of coins. Not bad for a pretty simple game.

This mini-game is one of my favorite and I have played it many times. In this game you need to use a slot machine. Sometimes you win and sometimes you don’t. If you win then you will get Snow Peas, Pea Shooters, Wall Nuts, Sunflower or sun. The point of the game is to accumulate 2,000 sun but you need to remember that you spend 25 sun every time you pull the lever. Plant as many Sunflowers as you can and continue to build up your offense and defense. One secret to this game is that you can accumulate up to about 1,900 sun and then continue playing. Don’t pick up any sun for a while. In this way you can sometime win jewels and money. You will really enjoy playing this level. I’m betting on it!!!

This mini-game is set in the rain and in the fog, so like other fog levels, it can be a little difficult. What is unique about the game is that the plants fall from the sky like sun pieces and there are many to choose from. Doom-Shrooms, Puff-Shrooms, Scaredy-Shrooms, Ice-Shrooms, Snow Peas, Lilly Pads and others are there for the taking. The most difficult part of the game is the fog so make sure you plant some Wall Nuts at the far and and keep all of your shooters to the far left. The plants drop fast enough that you should be able to keep up. If worse comes to worse use your Doom-Shroom or Cherry Bomb to clear out an area. Other than that it should be simple enough.

Beghouled is a mini-game unlike anything else on Plants vs. Zombies. This game is like the popular game “BeJeweled and is played in the same way. You need to match three like plants in order to clear that area. Make 75 matches and you win the game. As you make matches you will be awarded with sun and will be able to purchase upgrades for your plants. The game is simple and fun and well worth the time.

Mini-Games: Invisi-ghoul

Invisi-ghoul is just like other adventure levels in the game with the exception of the fact that you can’t see the zombies! This makes it an interesting choice as to where you will place your plants. It is a conveyor style game so you are limited to the plants that the game picks for you. You can use Kernal-Pults, Pea-Shooters, Ice-Shrooms, Wall Nuts and the like. You can see far the zombies have advanced because you can see the impact when they are hit. In addition to this, you can use an Ice-Shroom to temporarily locate all the zombies on the screen. These are really the only tactics that are helpful and you should establish your offensive and defensive lines as usual.
